Braided dog toy

Rainbow fleece material

I found some boldly striped rainbow fleece material to use for dog toys! I cut the bold stripes apart to make strips, and since there were six colors, learned to do a six strand round braid. It was much nicer to buy one yard of this material than several yards of different colors! The dogs approve of the finished tug toy. I stuffed some extra strips of fleece material into their rubber toys, and they enjoy destuffing those too!

Praying Mantis eyeing down the puppy

We were hanging outside in the hammocks when my youngest said that the puppy had something, and it was moving! This praying mantis was not happy to be snuffled. It looked like it was getting ready to molt, because its eyes were cloudy and the wings looked glued down. It was safely transferred to a nearby tree out of the puppy’s reach.

Puppy pacifier?

Missy with a leaf in her mouth

I love trees and leaves and autumn. Missy the puppy also likes leaves, particularly the crunch and they way they skitter enticingly across the pavement with the slightest breeze. Silly puppy.

Empty peanut butter jars

Well, not completely empty. When you get to the point that you can’t scrape an appreciable amount from the jar, they make great dog entertainment. I had to hold onto my mostly empty jar (plastic, I don’t give the dogs glass jars) until I had two, since we have two dogs. Missy thought these were the best thing ever! Griffin loves them too, but he needed to have protection from the puppy so he could enjoy his treat. Watching the puppy try to get her tongue to the peanut butter at bottom was worth the wait!

Snap shots from a walk

I’ve been getting household tasks marked off the list, which is productive, but doesn’t make for great blogging. (It took me two days to get through the filing. Ugh.) So today you get pictures from a recent walk. We’ll get back to chickens and crafts soon.

Ok, so I’ll share a puppy picture too! This is actually two photos blended together on my phone (!!) using the Photoshop Mix app, since they wouldn’t both look at the camera at the same time. I could have cleaned it up better on the desktop, but not too shabby for a quick fix. Yes, Missy is chewing on the grass. Silly puppy.
