Unexpected light show

I set up our laser holiday lights, but forgot to turn the timer from “on” to “timer” and when I let Sophie out for her morning constitutional was greeted with quite a spectacular laser show through the morning mist.

A white cat with gray stripes was next in the order of cats on the Bucilla felt kit for the house cat wreath. Hm. I grabbed a piece of darker gray felt from my stash and substituted parts of the white felt in the instructions to make a gray tabby with white face, chest, and feet.

I used the stamped white felt as templates to cut the gray felt, and appliquéd one on the other. I also changed the eye color to gold, and used up all the silver sequins so the back leg and tail tip have white instead.

You may recognize the model. Thor the gray tabby was the inspiration for the cat color. It amuses me that the felt cat is wearing a bright red collar bow, the real cat removes any collar placed on him by biting through the buckle.

Shower lurker

I went to take a shower and someone was already in there. She was a small someone, a house gecko, but we were both surprised.

I assume a cat brought her in, but it is getting colder and she could have found her own way to the shower, since she seemed undamaged, just cold. The shower glass and tile were too slick for the gecko to climb, so she was stuck. I took her back outside and put her into the deck box, since it is a protected place where I’ve found geckos before. I give the pronoun “she”, but honestly I didn’t ask preference, or check. She was much too cooperative and polite to be an “it”.

Our tree is up, and the cat is underneath. It is a small gift that he is not a climber. His 18 pounds could really be a problem stuck in the tree. He does look like he is contemplating mischief, though.

Cat number three is complete on the Bucilla felt wreath kit.

I changed a couple small things on the brown cat, giving it three stripes of sequins on the forehead to break up the space, and making the eyes green rather than the pattern indicated white.
