Doorbell

I purchased a Wyze door bell camera because it gets a camera at the front door, the old door bell doesn’t work, and I already have other Wyze systems.

I’m pleased with the installation, for I was able to hard wire it with the old door bell wires, following the instructions. The hardest part was finding which breaker turned off the electricity to the doorbell. With it hardwired, and an SD card installed, I have continuous footage without a subscription, so I can see which neighborhood critter keeps marking the front door. I can also check and see if the sound I just heard is Sophie the cat wanting to come back inside (she is not the one marking).

The doorbell now makes a doorbell sound, which has been absent at our house for a number of years. The best part is that I did not buy an inside chime, so the noise is just for visitors to feel like they’ve accomplished something. Yes, I’m that kind of introvert. The dog tells us there is someone at the door, and I don’t answer the door unless I know who is there and I knew they were coming over.

Check mate

My lap continues to be a playing board for cat chess. The stakes have been raised as the blanket I’m crocheting gets larger and there is actually room for a toe beans.

Yes. There are cat hairs crocheted indelibly into the blanket.

Circle of cats

I wandered an antique store for Mother’s day and this sculpture kept calling my name. I have other Windstone pieces, and of course I like the cats the best. I circled back and picked it up. It was designed to be a candle holder, but I’m much too distractible to burn candles, so I thought it appropriate that the seven cats would sit around a ball of yarn.

I will probably change out the center focus as the whim moves me. A nice glass or stone orb would go well there too.

Felt wreath project progress

I keep working on the Bucilla felt kit to make a cat themed wreath. So many tiny stitches. I laid it down to take a progress picture and Izzy the cat decided to investigate.

The stuffed candy cane the cat is holding is the smallest stuffed object I have ever done, so far. The project has many, many tiny stuffed details.

A little water proofing

The heated cat house behind the coop had been used as a scratching post, compromising its weather proofing. I bought some outdoor canvas and applied it to the roof with hot glue, just to give it a modicum of extra protection.

It isn’t my neatest job, but it fixed the issue. It will also be a test of the hot glue to fabric bond as the weather changes.
