Floof

We’re letting Missy’s fur grow out, to see what happens.

I’m keeping the hair around her eyes trimmed, but letting the rest grow. We used to shave her down a couple times a year in the summer because Griffin the dog needed a shave for overheating reasons. Missy doesn’t seem to have a heat retention issue. Now when she runs her mane bounces.

Nearer to you

Missy the dog tries to lay right behind my feet when I’m spinning, which makes it hard to treadle. So I put her bed to the side, which was an acceptable offering.

I’m currently spinning Teeswater wool on my Ashford Traveller spinning wheel. Teeswater is listed as a critical in the Livestock Conservancy’s list of Heritage Sheep Breeds. I purchased roving from a rancher in Michigan, and I am enjoying spinning the fiber.

Poor puppy

Izzy the cat has decided that Missy’s bed is the best in the house, much to Missy’s dismay. So I bought a new round dog bed so she had a safe spot again. It isn’t quite the same as her rainbow round, but when the cat rules, you make the best of it. I was actually hoping Izzy would go to the new bed, but no, there is just something about that rainbow round.

Throwback Thursday: crocheted dog vest

Photo description: Griffin the dog wearing a crocheted striped dog vest

In October of 2015 I crocheted our dog Griffin a sweater because we thought he would be cold outside with his single coat of fur. I made stripes and crocheted in the round. It came out a little snug and getting him in and out of it wasn’t fun for anyone. Turned out he didn’t care about the cold at all. I always meant to make him another bigger sweater in Gryffindor colors, because that would be funny, but he was just as happy without.

Yeah, scrolling through old pictures was a kick in the gut this time. Lots of pictures of pets that are no longer with us.

She’s in my bed

Izzy the cat has decided that Missy the dog’s bed is the place to be.
