Pet bed

Awhile ago I bought a pet blanket I intended to go in the car. It was fuzzy and water resistent, and I thought it would entice Griffin, our older dog, to the back seat. Well, the thing had two layers and wasn’t quilted, so was crazy slippery. Not good to cover car seats! Flash past the initial purchase, the failed attempts, and the months of no car rides (we are easing Missy back to the car rides), and the blanket and some left over egg crate foam were taking up space in my craft room. So I used the blanket to make a pet bed. I cut the foam to make two layers, cut enough fabric to cover, sewed velcro to close (next time I’ll do a zipper, which is easier to sew than velcro), and sewed the open seams. The pets now compete to lay on it.

But Mom, it is my bed!

Oh yeah, and it is National Puppy Day! I don’t think the cats got the memo.

Puzzle cat

To solve our cat butt on the puzzle problem, we added a shoe box to the puzzle table. We still need to cover the puzzle with poster board when we aren’t working in it, but this seems to appease her highness.

Cat’s eye view

Izzy likes to sit in the hammock outside the catio and watch the chickens

Izzy likes to escape into the back yard, even though she has a catio. Apparently the dust baths are better down the hill. The dust is great because that is where the dogs run to catch the ball and they keep the clay nicely churned. Rolling in the dust during a game of fetch though doesn’t work well and sends Izzy running back to the catio, but to the outside hammock. We originally built the outside platforms for Sophie the outside cat, but they are way too close to Izzy. Plus there is the added nice view of the tantalizing dance of the chickens. Cat TV.

I actually took this picture before Texas Winterpocalypse, but this is what it looks like again. Texas, shaking off the cold like a bad dream.

If I fits I sleeps

It really can’t be comfortable across both boxes, but Izzy is sleeping in the puzzle pieces anyway
Izzy tried again the next day, but this time wedged herself into just one box. What is it about cats, boxes, and puzzle pieces?
