Happy New Year

I hope it is a happy new year. I think the phrase “cautiously optimistic” is probably getting run into the ground at this point, but I remain with reserved hope that this year will be better than the last. To start off the year on a good note, here is one of my favorite cat pictures. I was working on the sink in 2003 and my cat Shadows peeked in to see what I was doing. Her careful observation mirrors my current attitude well.

Here is to this year being filled with the making of things!

May the 4th be with you

I made a composite image awhile ago of X-wing Starfighters and the Corona-19 virus. I thought for May the 4th it would be nice to add some text and include it in this blog. Go out there and get ‘em microscopic fleet!!

The electron microscope image of COVID-19 is from NIAID, and the image of the X-wing fighter is an actual electron microscope image of a 3D printed model by Microlight.

I’m using the Inktober 52 prompts (one prompt per week) to hone my Adobe Fresco skills and posting the sketches on my other blog (www.carynscreations.com/blog) No, I’m not making ink drawings, but the prompts are convenient and keep me motivated creatively.

Happy Halloween!

Eye in tree bark.
The trees are watching, trick-o-treet!

I had some fun with Photoshop for this one. The tree already had a nice knot, it just needed help refining the eye. This is a strange Halloween, and we will be staying in. My youngest thinks a game night would be awesome, maybe with a scavenger hunt for candy (although she doesn’t eat any, it is still fun to find). We’ll probably put out some candy for those without immune issues, and a sign on the door asking not to knock or ring, because the youngest has immune issues. May you all have an enjoyable evening, whether you like to be scared, or do the scaring, whether the ghosts and ghouls are scarier than spewed droplets or not.
