Ornery Old Man

Griffin the dog has become quite crotchety in his old age (he’s 10). In his younger years he respected fences and didn’t dig or escape, even when the gate was left open. Now, however, he pushes boundaries more, literally. I was on hold on the phone when I went outside to find him, so “snuck” up on him trying to dig under the fence behind our propane tank. Stinker. I’m not sure whether there is something living in the wood pallets, or if he is trying to get to the neighbor’s cats, but there were definite signs that he had been pushing out the bottom of the wire fence and reaching through with his paws. I stacked some rock across the bottom of the fence to curtail his landscaping attempts.

Playtime

Thor comes and asks to play and everyone else joins in. The thin ribbon is favorite, but I have to keep close watch for tears and loose bits. Missy doesn’t care for the ribbon, but could I please throw/kick/move her ball? (She has an obsession.)

Not a liquid

I have a cat basket in my computer closet, and Missy the dog gave it a try. Poor puppy. She is the size of a large cat, but when she was put together she didn’t get the “is liquid” property. Points for effort, though.

The look on her face is because I’m taking her picture.

Negotiation

Missy the dog’s favorite blue ball rolled too close to the cat. She brought him the red ball as a negotiation tactic. Thor the cat was unsure of the offer and was unwilling to throw the blue ball. Eventually Missy was able to obtain her blue ball through stealth and bravery.

Good-bye 2023. May 2024 bring you all successful negotiations.

They still play

Thor the technical kitten (seven months old) and Missy the dog still play on the living room rug. Here is the most recent video. Here is one where Thor was much smaller. He has grown a bit.

As long as Thor maintains a healthy weight, he shouldn’t ever outweigh Missy who weighs 20 pounds, but visually he is getting closer in size.
