Our pack

Missy is on a leash to help her sprain heal, Griffin and Izzy are keeping her company

We have picked up a routine since we adopted a puppy. Once or twice a day we let Izzy out of the catio to roam the yard with the dogs. She rather demanded it, and seems to think that if the puppy is out, she can be too. (She doesn’t get that the puppy can’t climb trees.) Missy will follow Izzy all over the yard (yeah, probably should have changed the little one’s name, it is rather hard to tell these apart when spoken). The cat is part of the pack. Our other cat, who adopted us, and has territory outside the fence that she defends from the rest of the neighborhood, was there too. See if you can find her in the picture below!

Skeletons

Xray of 4 month old puppy leg (no fractures)

October is the time for skeletons, so here is a puppy leg. The reason I have this xray of a puppy leg? She sprained her foot running full tilt across the yard. We needed the xrays to make sure nothing was broken (nothing was). Guess what we get to do this week? Keep a 4 month old puppy calm so her foot can heal. More October nightmares. We keep her on a leash when she goes outside, and provide lots of lap time inside. We were given some anti-inflammatories, but they disagreed with her tummy. Poor kid.

Fetch

Missy and her favorite outside ball

We are slowly getting little Missy to fetch. At first she just liked to chase our older dog Griffin as he ran after his jolly ball. Then I figured out that if I had the jolly ball and the bucky ball, I could throw the jolly ball for Griffin and then throw much lighter ball for Missy. She chases it rather than Griffin! Yay! She doesn’t bring it back so much as drops it on her way to get Griffin as he returns, but it is at least in the right direction. She is amazing at “drop” when I take it from her, which is remarkable because we haven’t specifically worked on that command. Smart pup.

Is he going to get me?!?

Upgrade

I have been meaning to upgrade my phone for almost a year. I put it off not just because of the cost, but also because it is irritating when things are in the wrong place. Compared to many moons ago, the upgrade process is SO much better, but there are still small shifts, tiny adjustments, and a whole lot of “where did it go?” Frustrating. But I finally succumbed, and have in the bargain a better camera. Maybe I’ll be able to provide some nicer shots for the blog. Today, all the animals just seem to be laughing at me. (Because of course I take pictures of animals first.)

“Hey! It’s the circle on the bottom! Come ON!” My dogs protesting posing for a picture instead of getting on with the walk.
“What have you done?!?” One of my hens investigating the new phone.

Pacifier

Missy cuddled on my lap, chewing her pacifier, watching football

My human children never took to a pacifier, it is amusing that our youngest dog does. She runs around crazy, then asks to get on my lap. Once there, she likes to chew her bumpy nylabone until she falls asleep. Silly puppy. She also watches the TV.
