Here is another set of pictures taking from my kitchen with my digital camera. I watched this little Eastern Phoebe beat the katydid against the railing several times, then swallow it whole. Wow.

We have been taking pictures with my Canon digital camera out the back door but I only just downloaded for the last month. Hm. I found the deer pictures my eldest took, when she spotted a doe in the back woods!

Do I ever see deer in the yard with my own eyes? No. I see them on camera: either the trail cam or someone else’s picture. Hm.
I read that squirrels like to chew on antlers, so I mounted a deer antler to their feeding tree.

Squirrels chew on antlers and bone for mineral content and to keep their teeth at a working length. I had a couple small slices of antler tied with string out back, but the squirrels stole them. It will be hard for them to steal this one, and I get to witness the behavior.
I didn’t really know how many squirrels visited my feeders until I moved the post. I thought I had four, but no, there are more than four.

I count seven squirrels.

Here is a short video.
I do like watching them, the sassy little things.
Happy Father’s Day to all those that nurture.
I hadn’t even finished putting new corn cobs on the squirrel-go-round when a squirrel came down to investigate.

This one has a notch out of the right ear. She may have earned herself a name.
