Catio repair

The wood I used for the top of the catio access, going from the house window to the enclosed space for the cats, rotted in the rain. I knew I had to address it, but when Thor the gray tabby ended up outside by his lonesome it became more urgent.

It is in my plan to get some clear material to go over the top to keep the rain out, but to make it secure in the meantime I replaced some of the wood then laid poultry wire over to keep the cats in. I had both the wood and wire, so didn’t have to make a trip to the hardware store.

The poultry wire is stapled to the wood, and wired to the hardware cloth, so the cats should be secure.

Roll reversal

Thor the gray tabby cat is thoroughly confused by the antics of Sophie the dilute calico cat. Thor is usually the one in the box taking swipes at passerby. He isn’t quite sure what to do about this development. Missy the small black dog is on hand to break up any fights.

Cat chess

This was an interesting game of cat chess. Izzy the calico was cuddled in the fuzzy blanket on my chair, and Sophie the dilute calico jumped up on the footstool and stared at her. Izzy woke up when I took the picture, saw Sophie sitting higher than she was, so moved up to the top of the chair in a checkmate move.

I would gave stayed in the comfy cozy blanket, which just proves I’d be rubbish at cat chess where the goal is the hold the high ground.

It’s cold

What’s the test that it is actually cold in Texas? You find a dog and cat sharing the fuzzy blanket.

Missy the dog has always needed a couch buddy, and Sophie the cat is the most laid back, so I’m not surprised that it is these two we caught sharing warmth. Missy runs very warm, but has a large personal space, so doesn’t usually let the other cats near.

So photogenic

He is such a pretty boy, and so photogenic. He sings too. I’ve never heard a cat meow and trill with a musical quality. My family says it is because he grew up with singing in the house. Hm.

He isn’t a jumper, though.
