Coyotes, squirrels, and fox, oh my!

Hm. I haven’t checked the trail cam in awhile. There were 445 pictures on there, mostly of raccoons, opossums, and cats. There were some squirrel pictures, which is remarkable in that we haven’t seen squirrels on the trail cam before.

And there was one picture of a coyote, and one of a fox. Apparently that only go through our area in the fall, since we haven’t seen them on the trail cam for a year.

Upgrade

I have been meaning to upgrade my phone for almost a year. I put it off not just because of the cost, but also because it is irritating when things are in the wrong place. Compared to many moons ago, the upgrade process is SO much better, but there are still small shifts, tiny adjustments, and a whole lot of “where did it go?” Frustrating. But I finally succumbed, and have in the bargain a better camera. Maybe I’ll be able to provide some nicer shots for the blog. Today, all the animals just seem to be laughing at me. (Because of course I take pictures of animals first.)

“Hey! It’s the circle on the bottom! Come ON!” My dogs protesting posing for a picture instead of getting on with the walk.
“What have you done?!?” One of my hens investigating the new phone.

Fluffy butt Friday

Hens eating mealworms, fluffy side out

Yup, this is a thing. Showing off fluffy butts on Friday. My girls are still getting their tail feathers in, but I thought this photo was interesting because you can clearly see the difference in coloration between the girls. Seashell has the dark fluff, and isn’t quite to a blue Faverolle, but is further that direction than any of the others.

Inktober

That time of year has rolled round again: Inktober! The idea is that you make an ink drawing and share it every day, even if it just on your fridge. I’m posting on Instagram at #CarynsCreationsTX. There is more information at https://inktober.com. I’m following their prompts, but it certainly isn’t required.

The prompt for this ink drawing was “bulky”

Last year I drew something chicken themed for each prompt. This year I want to go minimal. I like art that is the hint and essence of an object. It is how I like to approach making logos, but I usually use Illustrator, so designing in ink pushes me out of my comfort zone. Taking the minimal approach certainly isn’t time saving, as each line and fill needs to be so much more precise, but it is turning out to be a good exercise. Before using any of these further, I would refine them in Illustrator, but again, the idea is to push out of comfort zones and increase skills. Happy #Inktober!

Pacifier

Missy cuddled on my lap, chewing her pacifier, watching football

My human children never took to a pacifier, it is amusing that our youngest dog does. She runs around crazy, then asks to get on my lap. Once there, she likes to chew her bumpy nylabone until she falls asleep. Silly puppy. She also watches the TV.
